Default My Lounge

I am moving into a new small apartment. I am looking for ideas for the lounge. The lounge area is painted in cream white and the carpet is brownish. I have bought a red couch, a brown modern coffe table and a stand that matches the coffee table. Any ides on to improve the space.....colour of the curtains and stuff

I am a coward. I'd LOVE to add some flair but I'm frightened of making an unholy mess so I stick to the Navaho White that is ubiquitous in New York City...and sheer white curtains. Yeah, no imagination.

I DID opt for a cranberry "French paisley" type carpet though...very pretty.
(But now everything I think of threatens to clash with it. )

I had a designer friend who died, but he thought every room should look like Marie Antoinette's bedroom. "Over the top" doesn't BEGIN to tell the tale.

well are you allowed to paint in there? that carpet and those walls (at least as i imagine them) sound god awful...at the very least a fresh coat of paint might at least balance out the carpet situation.

or you could always ask friends/coworkers if they anyone in interior design. not sure what your budget is, but i'm sure even having someone (maybe a current student if you're not trying to go all the way) over for a consultation and maybe a few ideas. not to mention, depending on how much apart of the process they are, they could potentially use it to add to their portfolio or something...these are just some off the top of my ideas, but i hope they help or get you going in the right direction.
