I went into my local nycha office mid April to report that my income has changed and i no longer recieve public assistance. I gave in the document to prove it . The housing assistant took my paper and simply told me that my new rent will be mailed to me . It's May 2nd and I recieved my rent statement and the rent was not changed for May's rent . I have not received any mail from Nycha reguarding my rent being changed. How long does this usually take ? My mom told me to wait a couple more weeks and go back but im afraid if i wait any longer they will start the paperwork for june's rent and ill be stuck paying the full amount. I think the housing assistant took my document and simply forgot about it. I dont understand whenever they want to raise the rent they do it right away! They'd calculate the rent right there in the office and say here ya go! Thats what you have to pay but now since the rent will be decreased their dragging thier feet..or maybe they forgot? I dunno am i fretting over nothing? If i do get june's rent and it doesnt reflect my new income can i fight it in some way shape or form by saying well hey my income changed back in april and you didn't change my rent to reflect my new income?

Any and all advice is welcomed

I don't know how specifically how NYCHA, but I can say that expecting any City agency to get anything done is a month is wishful thinking.

I would go back to the same office and inquire innocently "Has my new rent determination been lost in the mail?" "Do you need any further information?"
and see what they say.
It can't hurt.

But don't be surprised if you still have to wait longer.
