Am I the only one that has noticed this? From 74th street in Jackson Heights, to 42nd Street - Bryant Park, to Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street, I've noticed Eastern European women asking for money. Most have a baby with them, and carry around signs.

Just today I noticed 4. One at Court Square in Queens, one on the B train at Bryant Park, and two at the Atlantic-Pacific stop. 3 of them had babies around 1 year old.

Who else has seen them?

I haven't noticed them. I've seen more homeless people lately but not that kinda demographic group.
How do you know they're eastern European?
It's interesting that of all the places you mention, none has a significant easter european population.

There is a definite palpable increase in all kinds of homeless people. Homelessness is becoming more diverse.

I'm assuming they're eastern european. They can barely speak english and have very thick accents. There's one in particular that goes on the R/N/D/B trains. I've seen her about three times. The other's just sit down on the floor of the train stations carrying a baby and a cardboard sign saying they need money.

Might be gypsies. They are definitely still around. They are not homeless although they pretend to be.They seem to always have little kids with them as part of their ploy. They also usually have pretty thick Eastern European accents.

Yeah with babies! on the A train! With them cardboard signs and the husband is playing an accordion. Get ya bedbug babies outta here. Don't care how foul I sound.

And she always sits down on the floor! 1 Time on Chambers Street a big ass rat ran right next to her sitting on the floor she aint even care! Yuck!

Yes I've seen them. I also seen the one with the husband playing the accordian and the time I seen him he happened to see his friend and started talking to him for a bit. I highly doubt they are homeless. I seen a news story about one lady who would act like shes crippled and she was perfectly fine. she just played the part in long island city.. I guess theres good money in panhandling. On that note there is a guy who seems crazy but he tells jokes and he kinda rambles to himself. I seen him on the 2 or 3 train by 42nd he was pretty good. and also the spongebob dude is kind of good.. I prefer the ones who perform and not just beg :/

I occasionally see poor looking Eastern European women in lower Glendale/Ridgewood, though not a lot. One of them asked me to give her my soda bottle when I'm done with it.

Funny how one almost never hears of big breasted Eastern European homeless women mulling about.

I guess those don't stay homeless for long .
