you might like the exact area I'm in--central Riverdale on Broadway and 252 street--a few bars on Broadway, within walking distance to Kingsbridge bars and shops and the #1 train and the 9 bus and Westchester Bus lines are here. once you get on the 9 bus and do the metrocard transfer to the 1 train it takes less than 5 minutes. the walk to the 1 is no more than 10 minutes
That stretch of Broadway looks pretty nice with the park on one side. Seems quiet and peaceful. Looks like a bit of a hike to get to some bars and restaurants though. I see a pizza place at 251st and a little further down a deli and a joint called Gleeson's sports bar. Looks like a good place for a pint. Then a little further down it looks like things start to pick up as you get close to Kingsbridge. Interesting area.
