It's actually 18+ usually

And it's probably not strictly enforced in most places

Why do people bother with trying to go out in this city if they aren't 21

don't know if anyone mentioned this, but before I was 21 I would go to Webster Hall pretty frequently. That place is the most amazing city club 21+ or Under

Forget the clubs and go to a regular bar. Best to get there early as sometimes bars hire a doorman to scan ID at night. If you look and act of age you can easily get away with it. Clubs with bouncers, lines, etc, never.

Shelter was once over 18 ...? Hard to know now I suppose and I have not been for years, in fact, not since I actually was around 18 and it was on Hubert Street.

Why not rent an Airbnb place and bring the party there?

I went out to dance. At least one of the best places did not serve drinks.

I know some bars who even accept a paper ID (like a printed passport), because I had a French friend who was 20 and she used to get into some clubs with that. PM me for some names if you're interested
