There are few neighborhoods in this city where you will not hear a fight, screaming, see litter on the streets, loud music, or whatever else comes with the poverty that is inherent in living in a city like NY. You cannot have a pissing area in a pool, to use Hustla's expression, so those problems you say are in areas like Mott Haven, or also in areas like Morris Park, or whatever neighborhood you believe is secure.

I agree that Morris Park is a decent community, with nice homes, however the access to the city via public transportation is long and painful...there is no way any sane person would enjoy it. Prices are higher than many areas in the Bronx though, so if you can afford to spend the money, and can stand the commute to the city day in and day out, then this is a good choice. I will stick with my short commute to midtown, enjoy all the money I am saving on city restuarants and diversions, and sleep softly at night in my spacious apt.

It is more expensive than other parts of the bronx, helps keep up the quality of the neighborhood. However its still ridiculously cheap by New York standards.

What are you talking about? The abandoned house is still there, that building is still being renovated (like 6 years later), the crooked building is still leaning, and Van Nest is still declining.

This is FALSE. There are many quiet neighborhoods in NYC where you DO NOT hear screaming, bottle breaking, and loud music is not tolerated. Morris Park is a worlds difference from Mott Haven. Have you ever been to Morris Park? This is either false information due to a lack of knowledge or plain old lieing. Mott Haven is one of the worst neighborhoods in NYC. Deal with it.

Public transportation in Morris Park means a slightly longer trip, enough to put off those who use the subway. However the differences in quality of life are beyond worth it.

There are not many neighborhoods that you do not hear fighting or screaming ever..that is a blatant lie...there are very very few..and those are the most expensive neighborhoods in Manhattan...or the outerboroughs with large, detached homes and very low density...so for the vast majority of us..those neighborhoods are off limits. Let's be realistic here.

I agree there is a world of difference between Morris Park and Mott Haven..Morris Park is too far from the city and completele suburban..while Mott Haven is very close to the city and completely urban....a completely different lifestyle.

If you think commuting from Morris Park to Manhattan is slightly longer than commuting from Mott Haven to Manhattan then you are the one that is downright lying or have never been to Morris park...are you kidding? You have no idea of what you speak, or you are, as usual, unfairly bashing areas like Mott Haven for whatever purposes you have. Many people specifically choose Mott Haven because of its proximity to Manhattan and trasnportation into the city..who the heck chooses Morris Park because "it is so close to the city and the commute is short/fast"....surely you jest!

I thought I saw houses with just the walls/foundation going up. If that's not the same house(s), my bad.

But if it's one abandoned house, then I will take a look at it. I'll investigate who owns it and how much it's going for. Although it's a bad thing, one abandoned house doesn't take down an entire neighborhood!

Whereas Hustla sees an abandoned house on a block and blankets a 10 block radius as "ghetto" and drug infested, I see an opportunity to buy an eyesore for cheap, invest, improve the community, and make some money too. That is the difference between my experience and actions, and Hustla's complaints and inaction.

Oh man, that is a lie. You need to get out more. Throgs Neck, Country Club, City Island, Morris Park, Woodlawn, Riverdale, you don't deal with that ****. A fight on the block would be a big deal. 911 would be called for noise. The streets are a hell of a lot cleaner then the South Bronx. Same can be said for much of Queens and Staten Island. Even a significant amount of Southern Brooklyn. Things are different in those areas. Working middle income lifestyle people compared to ghetto people.

As for the commute from Morris Park. Here you go. You hop on the bus at Morris Park Ave or Pelham Parkway (depending on which you live closer to), you get to the subway. You hop on the 2 train and go downtown. The difference between Mott Haven (if you even live walking distance from the subway). A half an hour. Yes there is a difference in commute times but the South Bronx is not setting records. The difference in quality of life? Huge. Mott Haven and Morris Park are VERY different neighborhoods. Morris Park has a MUCH higher quality of life. Last night 3 people got shot in Mott Haven. The neighborhood is full of poverty and run down buildings. And it's a hell of a lot uglier and intimidating.

Saying that Mott Haven is comparable to Morris Park informs me you are either a lier or you don't know what you are talking about.

No. I not only see an abandoned house. I see an abandoned building across the street. I see the house that is attached to the abandoned house, run down. I see a leaning building down the block, I would not be surprised it has numorous violations. Other run down properties scattered across the neighborhood. I see a corner where a drive-by homicide went down a block over. I see a shady bodega with obvious drug dealing.

You might not know what to look for but I do.

yeah comparing mott haven to morris park is ridiculous, night and day difference. so you have to travel an extra 20 minutes or so to get to midtown, big deal. thats crazy to use that as a make or break factor. its beyond worth it, just for the difference in quality of the neighborhood.

and on the commute too, u dont even have to take the #2. the #5 is closer and stops at esplanade, perhaps walking distance (depending on where in morris park u are).
