Hey guys. The traffic in Manhattan is horrendous and I can't get around easily in my car. In other cities I've lived, I have found no issue in doing so. Clearly, you guys are doing this all wrong and you should all be ashamed. Fix this immediately or I will hate New York for life.

I've spoken with many people both here and in person. None of them portray the rat in the subway thing as a one time thing. It's a regular occurrence.

Ahhhhh you're from San Francisco, makes sense now. I lived out in the bay area for a number of years and I know the attitude well.

To be fair, I see rats on the platform all of the time. A good few times a week. Depends on the station I suppose. I've even seen one on the train a couple times throughout life. It's been a while though.

This statement again demonstrates your lack of knowledge of this city.
Do you know how much of a cluster**** garbage trucks cause on side streets?
While i agree, and always have, that ALL reisdences and businesses should be forced to use locking receptacles more frequent pick up is not the answer.
edit: Oh and just a friendly reminder to please ignore the troll from LI everyone, you guys all know whom im talking about.

Why the off-topic post? This thread is about one thing and one thing only. Nobody has bothered to constructively address it, either. Some have agreed with me; the others have made cheap little message board insults. How about a constructive discussion involving ideas for how to fix the trash mess that most everybody agrees exists?

I am simply trying to come up with ideas to rectify the situation. I'm plenty aware of the pain the big trash trucks cause in congested cities. So, maybe there's another way. Maybe some sort of mobile dumpster system. Again, just tossing ideas out.
I don't know anything about a troll from LI.

pretty sure that stri50's post was on topic in the fact that it was pointless like your OP. but he did it in a sarcastic way. as in... making fun of you.

I lived in SF for a year and a half. SoCal for nine, Austin for one and central Florida for 23.

Are there any stations that stand out as being particularly bad? Particularly clean/rat free? I've been walking or cabbing everywhere. But, if I could find a subway station or two where I'm not thinking I'm gonna be around rats, I may try those.

Thread is about trash. And, hopefully, how to better address the issue. So a post about traffic is not on topic. I haven't seen a single person in this thread say there wasn't a trash problem, so it's hardly an irrelevant topic.
