I didn't realize that smoking crack was in the Health Department's jurisdiction.
Did the researchers also mention the increase in wealth of Manhattanites since 1987? How stupid, these liberal researchers. Yes, it's all just due to policy.
It is probably a combination of these factors. Certainly people in NYC walk more as they aren't relying on cars to get everywhere besides the NYC crackdown on unhealthy behaviors.
Also, I guess it's listing those calories on menus that also contribute. They sure scare me. You should see some people on the other side. They eat like there's no tomorrow.
I think that it is because in 1985 the life expectancy was tragically shorter due to murder, people with no concept of health care, and those dying of AIDS and drug overdoses.

I'm sure the life expectancy in nearby suburbs is the same, if not slightly higher.
The Northeast as a whole has a higher life epextency then say the South which averages 75...The Northwest and Canada are also just as high as the Northeast....its a lifestyle thing...
