Why you make 85k a year, but net pay is just 3700 a month?

There are people in this City for whom spending $10,000 a month on restaurants wouuldn't cause them to bat an eye.
And the reason that it is "easy" is because there are many places appropriately priced.
It would require no effort at all...thus, easy.

It's not easy if you're only making 83K a year, living in Manhattan, and have ANY sense of financial responsibility.

Isn't there already a thread about how much people are spending on food?

Latecomer to this thread, speed-read it, and it looks like we lost YoungTraveler2011 almost two weeks ago but what the heck, I might as well chime in with you all. Here's my 3 cents:

• Co-ops suck. Be very cautious and conservative about hitching yourself to one. Research its management and history as best you can.
• Remember, maintenance only goes one way: up. Every year.
• Unless I was speculating in real estate, I wouldn't buy a studio, even in Manhattan. I would stretch as far as I could and buy a 2 BR. If I couldn't stretch that far, I'd wait until I could.
