Ok so base on the 2000 and 2006 calculation, this is how much households we lost and added,
Less than $10,000 > - 119,198
$10,000 to $14,999 > - 7,086
$15,000 to $24,999 > - 29,671
$25,000 to $34,999 > - 42,449
$35,000 to $49,999 > - 40,598
$50,000 to $74,999 > + 3,746
$75,000 to $99,999 > + 43,755
$100,000 to $149,999 > + 86,135
$150,000 to $199,999 > + 50,354
$200,000 or more > + 52,811

So what do you think Hustla718? You keep repeating in other threads that the Middle class is leaving and that NYC is getting more poor and blah, blah, you want to leave, well you are not the only poor soul to think that.
Maybe crime has actually gone down as a result of the poor leaving the city, perphaps?
Also is sad they are leaving, but maybe alot of them will do better in other cities. More housing space, Maybe better jobs, I am not sure.

Those numbers do not specify young professionals with temporary middle income to families at income highs (the true middle class). It just throws them together. The number of young professionals at a temporary middle income is growing in NYC, however the number of middle class families is SHRINKING. You and high both know the most of the young professinals will eventually propell into the upper income ecomomic stratosphere.
Don't you get it. Just do a search around the net for the "shrinking middle class in NYC." Just look around the city, it's beyond obvious.

Sorry I don't believe the Middle Class is going down at all. The White middle class might be leaving. But new immigrants with college degrees are coming in and replacing the usual white middle class. I have seen that. I go all over the city.

New immigrants with college degrees? Like the Mexicans running the boarder setting up shop across the city remodeling and operating fruit stands to make ends meat? The Dominicans who struggled hard to get here, only to struggle some more when they arrive? The Jamaicans that controll the drug trade in the Northeast Bronx, or those in Flatbush Brooklyn who have helped the Crips take over? (A lot of Crips in Jamaica).
You stand alone with that opinion. It's very obvious the middle class is leaving.
BTW, most in that smaller group of immigrants with college degrees who are doing their thing will propel beyond the middle class. Those with families will eventually leave the city as they already are. The city is too expensive for families, you can find a better deal elseware. The housing sucks for families as well, the schools, and other inner city problems are a factor.

^ the working class and the poor are leaving, that is what I said before. The Middle class $60,000 to 100,000 are likely to stay. They are not that rich. They are Middle Class.
In the 80's less than $60,000 might have been middle class. LOL! Not today.

You just don't get it.
A lot of the people in NYC right now making middle income (city's average income is 40-60K) are both middle class (peaked out in that income strata) AND young proffesionals who earn that now, but soon will peak out at 125k+ per year.
The middle class is LEAVING. That is why that income strata is fleeing the city faster then it is growing.
Please use common sense. Why does the middle class leave?
-The failing schools.
-High living cost especially housing.
-Housing that does not fit the middle class.
-Inner city problems (Segregation, street gangs, street violence, ect)
It's obvious.

Thanks Cyrus for your research and setting the record straight. Yes, $100,000 is definitely not rich these days.
