Well, I didn't want to make the story too complicated- the broker was actually not able to meet us- we were just hanging out waiting for her to contact the super to unlock the door to the apt and show us.
It was a pretty block though- tree lined, quiet, not far from the express trains...
I wanted to get a consensus- as a previous poster mentioned, is this stuff going on everywhere? I just worry about being in the middle of any possible *crossfire*
I think I'm actually going to go back tomorrow, as my phone died before the broker could text me the super's #. She'll meet me there, and I'll see how I feel there in the morning, then come back again sometime, etc.
Maybe it's just that, this past week, the liquor store I usually go to was held up at gunpoint, and there was some raid in the basement of my building (according to my neighbor- I saw all of the police w/ their shields, but didn't see that it was from my building). I just have a heightened sense of caution I guess... maybe I should just chill out...

i say avoid it. today it's weed, the harder drugs are definitely nearby. if you have to ask others how they feel, that means you already know the place you wanna move to is not the move. this is where your hard earned money is going to be spent. no. look somewhere else to live.

How much further do you want to travel to purchase weed?

Just keep in mind this may potentially be a place you'll be committing yourself to live in for a year. If you go back there tomorrow and still have a bad gut-feeling, think long and hard about whether you can tolerate that feeling for an entire year. There's lots of places to live in the city, no reason why you should pick a place that gives you the creeps.

Weed usually has a calming effect, imagine how violent dysfunctional members of society would be without it.
But if you suffer or are prone to anxiety, panic attacks or neurosis bear in mind that Weed is a hallucinogenic which ppl tend to forget, and can trigger an attack which probably lands you in the ER.

What kinda silly question is this???
Of course you shouldn't move in.
On what planet is it even halfway normal for drug dealers to set up shop in front of your building?
Where's your head thinking to even start this thread??
If you couldn't figure that out you oughta move back in to mommy's house where she can make your meals, wash your clothing, and hold your hand when you cross the street.
Cause CLEARLY you shouldn't be let out on the street unsupervised.

Went back today, saw the place- seemed fine. It's really close to the express train, and there seems to be activity going on.
Plus, I may very well live on a block where harder stuff is being dealt. At least, my neighbor here told me he knows a guy who has the best cocaine who will deliver right to our door, and it is much better than the stuff the guys on our block have. I guess this is just the reality of living up here. Too bad my only indulgences are caffeine and (to a lesser degree) alcohol; otherwise, I'd be having a rockin time up here...
I'm going to hang out over there this evening- see if I still feel good about it. It's a pretty good deal, and my time is running out, so I need to decide soon...
Thanks for all the advice!

Unfortunately, that's not an option. Maybe I can move in with your mom instead?

No,it doesn't go on everywhere. And you are right to worry about "crossfire" .Drug dealing locations inevitably become the focal points of gang turf squabbles that account for the vast majority of violent crime in the city.
