Average middle class Brooklyn neighborhood. I have friends that live within that rectangle. It's all 2 family houses. The only "iffy" area lies just outside of the box, the Avenue L strip. But I wouldn't even consider that bad either.

It's decent. I spent the summers there with my uncle as a child.

As long as you stay South of Flatlands Ave and West of Rockaway Pkwy, its pretty safe

good area. wont say theirs no crime their but its still overall a good area.

the only real shady part of canarsie is where the L train runs which is not near that rectangle anyway. But the l train pretty much stops at the parts of canarsie that boarder east new york and brownsville and a huge public housing project isnt far from the L train either.

other then that canarsie is a fine area.

Be aware that in the summer their are alot of parties. mostly reggae and kompa parties that benefit the large haitian and jamaican population that lives in the area.

east of rockaway pkw is actually the nicest part of canarsie if your talking from avenue j to seaview avenue.

if your talking about the west of rockaway pkwy being by the L train then i fully agree.
