Hi! I'm interested in Viewing the WHOLE RUNWAY w/ the Planes Landing & Taking Off . Being a native New Yorker I'm well aware of 9/11 so I know that security is Extremely tight. Now, I heard of & was at "PlaneView Park", "College Point", & the Marina World's Fair Citi-Field" area watching planes fly over heard, but what I wanted to know is -

B/c of 9/11 if I understand correctly you can't watch planes LAND & TAKEOFF from INSIDE LaGuardia airport? I remember when my parents took me when I was a little kid to a certain location INSIDE LaGuardia & we would see or view the WHOLE RUNWAY (s) & watch the planes TakeOff & Land. Plus, I remember when someone in passing conversation said that you could watch Planes Land & TakeOff from the MARINE Terminal.

1) Is this still true?

OR b/c of 9/11 this no longer exists?

Also, months ago this yr. I had to go to Queens to buy a certain size of a pair of sneakers around the #7 Train. I needed to get back to Flushing & learned that the #33 Bus takes you to where Landing Lights & PlaneView Park is where you could transfer to the #48 Bus that goes into Downtown Flushing. Now, I've already been to PlaneView Park quite a few yrs. ago & had watched these planes fly right over me. However, as I was waiting for the #48 I noticed that No Body was @ ("Planeview") Park. It was SO DESOLATE AND Vaughn College was covered w/ So much Construction that I wasn't even sure if the college had re-located. I mean, it was a nice cool Spring evening & NO BODY or NOT a SOUL was in the Park?! Is this b/c since Security has become Extremely tight due to 9/11 Does this mean the Park is NOW RESTRICTED to the public. I couldn't believe NOT A SOUL was around Nevertheless, Vaugh College being Constructed.
So, I'm just curious (besides plane spotting from "PlaneView", "College Point" & the Marina World's Fair Citi-Field) is

2) Is "PlaneView Park" still open to the Public?

Or

3) Is it restricted b/c cops are roaming around the area on watch out for any suspicious activity (i.e. taking pics of planes)?

4) Why was Vaughn College full of construction?

5) Is it still there Or has it relocated & be shut down to keep ANY Plane Spotters AWAY from the Park's Property?

6) WHERE Could you view planes taking off & landing on the WHOLE RUNWAY From INSIDE LaGuardia Airport (like the Marine Terminal)?

Or

7) Does this NO LONGER EXIST?

8) If it doesn't WHERE ELSE can I View the WHOLE RUNWAYS?

Like I described above - I'm NOT Interested in Plane Spotting watching Planes Flying Over my head or Flying or Taking Off from the Airport @ a distance or viewing only a Portion of the runway.

Please let me know (oh, & btw. someone put up a brief video of watching planes on the WHOLE Runway from a Hotel in the area - he/she said that if you book a room for the day you could sit All Day & watch them & View the WHOLE RUNWAY). I'm open to any information.

And you are obsessed with Airport schematics for what reason exactly? A hobby? At a NY Airport?

Really?

You might be able to get a view of part of the Laguardia airport runaway(you could see planes land) from
Hermon A. Macneil Park in College Point Queens.

No, I'm Not Obsessed w/ Airport schematics - I'm just a Plane Enthusiast (i.e. Plane Spotter) & may want to become a Pilot someday. I was just Inquiring.

I hate when people use tons of bolds and caps in their posts. I feel like I'm reading a study guide.

In pursuing your dream then. You must understand however, Some of my concern given we are in New york and due to past events. There has to be naturally more scrutiny when one is asking these questions. Just the way the world is now.

D. Scott.

D. Scott,

Thank you for finally understanding. I Have No Intentions or Had No Intentions doing any harm. Yes, I know about Terrorism, but I didn't realize How Sensitive & How Much Security there was here. I'm Not from around here. & Don't worry, I'm Not a Terrorist - just someone who has an interest in Aviation (I plane spotted in other locations like Austin, TX, & No Body questioned me there - they have an observation area to plane spot, but I didn't realize how much of a difference it was Here in NYC.) & is amazed @ how a Large piece of Metal can Fly in the Sky. Again, I'm sorry for all this misunderstanding & I'm sorry for coming off rude. & MOSTLY, Thank you when you said "In pursuing your dream then" This Really Means A Lot to me.
