What they don't know is that is BULL ****. Why would someone with absolutely no knowledge of NYC neighborhoods WANT to move there? They don't know about where they are going. That's why they come to forums. To ask about it. If we support that advertisement, we're not helping people who need it.

Hubris and condescension are not necessarily helping others, BxGear. However, if you would prefer to scare all them white folks away, by all means go to it. I'll be with you in spirit, believe me--as long as you let me live my life here, as I see fit.

Nothing wrong with white folk. It could of been a relative of mine being tricked by NYCs deceptive real estate. I have nothing against YOU elvira. Why do you say that? If you think this has something to do with race, you're over-thinking way too much

Unfortunately, it just so happens that a lot of people here now are poor, and a lot of people waiting to move in have a bit more in resources and income, typically speaking. It just so happens that many of them are white, college educated folk who expect a certain standard of living, and frankly see it as their right to have it. They generally have no reservations about pushing out the poor, just as the rich have no guilt about pushing out the middle class.

It's a dog eat dog world--and as with most things, it is only exaggerated more in NYC. I am not the only person who has observed that this is one of the most segregated cities in the country. There are many reaons for it--political, financial, and otherwise.

I'd venture a guess that many posters see people of color (esp en masse, in a predominantly minority hood) as a danger, a threat, and a nuisance to their way of life. "They" ruin neighborhoods singlehandedly. "They" have "taken over" areas that we would now like to "reclaim"--though they're the ones who had to live through all the rough stuff, only to be pushed out mercilessly.

Am I being overly dramatic? I guess it's up to the individual to judge. I just happen to have empathy for all sorts of people--a sometimes rare quality to find nowadays--both a blessing and a curse really (lol).

tamcat16 is on a distinguished road
Yes, this is true, and I do believe Bushwick is not a safe area. But......I wonder how many people actually know the area enough to comment. Does everyone just look at the statistics or have people lived here recently. I want to leave the area, not only for safety but for more things to do. Now that I've been here a while, Im trying to make the best of things.

I know the area in and out. I work there finding investment properties for my developers. I am in the neighborhood about every day. If you want, send a pvt message and I can give you the honest lowdown on most sections.

I've lived here 3 years and have friends and employees who happen to live in or near Bushwick, and yes, it IS "that bad"... it's "Thug Life", on display, 24 hours a day.

Cops take forever to answer calls there, too, so if you're gonna' do it, make sure you're either pretty tough or have ample storage in the basement for the bodies....
