Inwood/Washington Heights: anyone live(d) on Bennett or in another Edel managed building? (New York: 2013)

Hi all,

I saw an apartment in one of the buildings (179 Bennett) run by Edel Family Management that I am considering applying to rent.

The management company doesn't have a very good rep on the web.

Wondering if anyone lives in that building or another one run by the group (225 bennett, many others).

If so, I'd appreciate any opinions on how the building is run, if you have probs with pests/hot water/leaks/etc, or on the other hand if you think it's good, quick repairs, etc

Edel Family Management right? I put one applicant in the 225 Bennett building and one other in the Broadway building, and the only thing I have heard that is negative is that their Broadway building lacked proper heating last winter because the boiler needed to be fixed.
Please also keep in mind that a good portion (but not all - see Empire Management) the negative reviews are from rent-stabilized tenants whom larger landlords like Edel don't want living there. Thus, they are not quick to act to their problems such as mold, leaks, pest because they want them to move. If you are paying market rent, and pay on time, there is usually more of an incentive to keep you there.

I do realize that, and also that it's the negative reviews that get left the most often. I also checked out their complaint record at the HPD website and some nearby similar buildings.

I hope you did not end up renting with this company. They're currently holding my security deposit and are under scrutiny for their shady practices. These people are evil evil evil.
