Interesting. Don't know if I can through the entire thread, but it does have some interesting material. I guess I'm always fascinated with cultural and sociological subjects. I guess I thought that it's prevalent to NYC mainly, I guess it is national as someone has pointed out.
So I guess some different opinions would be:
1. submissiveness from women vs equal treatment from men (a bit of a contradiction though)
2. exoticness
3. whiteness as a social status
4. citizenship (didn't even cross my mind)
5. absence of feminism in asian women
6. desire of strong family values which asian women embody
7. simple attraction preferences. but seriously, in such large numbers?
8. lack of agression, abrasiveness in asian women. they are not after your money, car, etc. This is weird.
9. asian men are too domineering, short, reserved, etc.
10. it's easy for an average/bad looking white guy to get an asian women
11. #10 contradicts a claim from another poster that asian women are not easy to seduce. they won't be intimate as quickly as white women will be. i don't know since when is that a problem for men.
Ok, I got all of that, but we are examining this in simple terms of asian vs white. as the only choice for all these values/characteristics. There are many women and men who embody these same elements.
Other ethnicities can reflect the qualities. Indian, south american, eastern european, some african, west indian, etc. have very inherent family values, are more "soft" or "compliant" with men. There are many men from other ethnicities who would treat women as equal.
If those "essential" "core values" are really the integral component, why aren't people mixing more at greater proportions? Instead it's really just one combination that's so common. And again, I don't think that there is much hostility directed at that combination as lets say black/white couples, or white/hispanic and others. I doubt that marrying and dating an Asian woman for a white man carries the same social stigma as white/black. i guess i'm curious as to why.
I remember a coworker of mine who's of chinese descent telling me that when she was in china with her family and her daughter's white boyfriend, chinese girls would constantly approach him and try to pull him away or flirt with him overtly in front of her daughter. Asking if they can "practice English" with him.
I'm probably spending too much time analyzing it. But I guess I feel bad for the rest of the women out there, because black, asian, european and latin men are interested in asian women on such a large scale that they are fighting over one asian girl in a sea of other women. And probably for some misogynistic and racist, insecure reasons.
And just as a reference point, I'm Armenian, my generation of Armenian women were often insistent on marrying a non-armenian because they were culturally very dominant. I didn't really focus on one ethnicity when I was dating and even dated Armenians, because the idea became very dated and exaggerated. I did marry a "super white American" man, but it wasn't at all based on his cultural/social/ethnic constitution, but rather on his attractiveness, intellect, sense of humor and kindness. I didn't rule out the entire world for the sake of only one race/ethnicity, the concept is strange.
I also know a guy who moved into the heart of chinatown in flushing, powered by his love for asian women. He was definitely anti women who are pushy, have a strong character, wanted equality, yet would be completely financially independent. He didn't luck out very much with them, although good looking and intelligent, as an artist he was not a suitable candidate. He found that Asian women are not as submissive as he originally thought, that they are smart and demanding, and will definitely evaluate their potential mate. It's funny, he's totally off that wagon, because everything he thought they would be, they in fact, turned out to be like regular, modern and smart women. Either senario is silly.
