I was there and it was a surreal moment for me. Put everything in perspective. I was the only one around me that knew right away it was shots. I heard 6 shots! Crazy!

Mayor Bloomberg is speaking. He says some of the injured may have been hit by police officers.

Bloomberg says:

A man who had been fired from his job about a year or so ago. One dead, at least nine others shot. Some may have been shot accidentally by police officers.

It's scary how crazy people in this country have access to weapons like that.

I bike everyday through the area, and one of those 10 people could've been me.

I know people with mental health issues don't rationally think their actions.
I have nothing against people wanting to kill themselves if they chose to do so, but please why hurt innocent ones?

I guess the gunman didn't get memo NY has strict gun laws.

According to a witness:
Construction worker Chris Ogden was working on a scaffold above the building’s 33rd St. entrance when he watched in disbelief as the gunman — in a suit and carrying a briefcase — opened fire.

“He shot the guy in the head,” said Ogden, 23. “The guy went down. He took a second shot when he was down.”

The well-dressed shooter then “walked down the block, like nothing was happening, real casual,” Ogden said. “We were screaming from the top, ‘It’s the guy in the grey suit!’”

What an unfortunate incident. The guy knew that he wasn't coming home today, and it's so sad that many people will have their lives changed forever.

Now for the aftermath.....Bloomberg is going to come out screaming and crying for more gun control, along with the gun control crowd. Let's ban everything!

Ill be saying a prayer for humanity

I can also imagine the lawsuits coming agains the nypd if it's determined that their stray rounds hit innocent bystanders.

Just found an update:

Mr. Kelly said Mr. Johnson appeared to have no criminal record. He said that Mr. Johnson had worked at the apparel company, Hazan Imports, for six years. “During a downsizing at the company about a year ago,” Mr. Kelly said, “Johnson was laid off.” He said that Mr. Johnson pulled the gun “in a dispute with one of the former employees of Hazan in front of the building.”
