acting like spoiled brats.

I was the only native New Yorker she ever conversed with on a one one basis. She told me about Tampa New Yorkers who move there only socalize amongst ex New Yorkers and a good portion of Tampas job market is dominated by New Yorkers. While here in NYC she refered herself as a gatorgirl. I also known a black girl from Nocal bay area.I suggested that she should live uptown in Harlem or the heights in order to get to Columbia in quick time. She said hell no, she said she is not trying to get shot. Then she said white people are crazy to move to those areas. This type of attitude seems to be all over the place. A buddy of mines who i went to school with here in Mott Haven dreads visiting Anacostia section of Washington DC which was like Harlem back in the day. He may have to move to that area to be close to work for a walkable commute. Many transplants have inflated egos to bring their egos down is is through alcohol, cocaine, weed, or X. If the economy gets better within the next four years maybe less generation y will stay in their hometowns and work instead of Megan's from Winchester falls Iowa moving to Williamsburg or Carla from Williamsburg Brooklyn moving to LA for her big break. Or Joey from The Bronx moving to Seattle as a game developer vs Caleb from Redmond moving to NYc to for iphone app development.
Haha, sounds a bit like that HBO show 'Girls'. I've never watched it but read the synopsis. I guess TV emulates real life just as well.

They come in droves to New York and Boston and act like they are cultural messiahs, when in fact the good majority are talentless hacks living off of mommy and daddy's rent checks.

If I hear one more art damaged hipster chick from Indiana tell me she's a poet, I'll puke.
Yeah, just like what I stated above. My ex and her sister were those types who leeched of their parents and had them pay their rent. Spoiled brats. The sister almost never took the train and used the car her dad bought for her to get anywhere (even if it's around NYC). All of their friends were the pretentious Bushwick free loving hippie/hipster vegan types who would pass judgment on those who ate meat..or even dared to cook it in their apt, ugh. lol.

Either America is doomed with materialistic values or just middle America!

I'm a little bit turned off by Transplants coming to NYC adding to the rat race for lucerative oppurtunities. THen again whos to say that Floridians, North Carolinians, Georgians, Calfornians, Arizonians, Texans, Virginians are fed up with New Yorkers doing the exact samething that Transplants do over here. Like I said before if the economy gets better it will force alot of young people in my age bracket to stay in thier hometowns. Just a couple of months ago I saw a Puerto Rican girl in my area tuck away her Macbook Pro in her Patagonia backpack, her father told her have fun in Seattle and goodluck with the job interview while waiting for the bx15. At the end of the day people have a right to move freely where ever they want to move whether if its Josh from Wisconsin moving to Astoria Queens, or Fran from Astoria Queens moving to Tennesse.

I saw HBO girls on Youtube, its disgusting. I hope this show comes off the air. The show does give an example on how out of town Gen Yers moving to NYC playout their everyday lives from work, relationships and sex especially amongst Transplant women. Alot of Transplants especially women can relate to that show not only in NYC but women who move to other cities in general can probably relate to the sitcom of Girls.

So far my generation is not looking good for the future of America, but I dont blame Gen Y I also put some blame in the Boomers as well as Xers which is full of divorced parents, single mom hump and dumpsters of the past, feminist, etc and the problems still presists to this very day. America as well as NYC is doomed if certain hard working values are not instilled in the general population. I'm tired of seeing look at me with iphones taking photos of their food.

The only thing I loved about gentrification is not the improvement of amenities but the quality of women which fly into NYC everyday looking for their big break. I rather spend time with a Midwestern check named Megan or Madison who only has virtual baggage from college debt over vs a typical BX BK Shamika or a Carla, or a Giselle, or an Isabella who might dozens of BFs with runs in jail, child support claims, two kids from different fathers, dropped out of high school etc. Nothing more worse than dropping and picking kids from school that are not yours, and if you dont it will be a drama issue of proportions unseen!

Yeah tell me about it. Half my co-workers and friends come from divorced families/grew up in single mother households. Hard working values and discipline are lacking in many of generation Y and X. You can almost always blame the parents for treating their kids as their friend rather than as a strict parent - the way it should be. There are so much lazy people these days who think they can scrape by without hard work and making the least possible effort in the real world to make it big. I think it's called 'peter pan' syndrome..a lot of people don't want to grow up and be an adult.

Another reason why China is kicking our butt and will have the biggest economy in the world in only a matter of decades if not decade. My friend the other day was lecturing me how all the jobs now are in Shanghai, well I wouldn't be surprised.

Problem is, you surrounded yourself with the wrong type of females and then made a completely broad generalization about two entire races...

Regardless of the time frame, (I can only go back to what I know growing up 80s, 90s and today), you always had your thug chicks that would sleep around with anyone and everyone and screamed dirty as hell (these came in all shapes sizes and colors, black, white, asian, hispanic... I knew an asian chick in East NY that got down with everybody)... At the same time though even in my neighborhood, you had those, but you had the classy hood chicks as well... Those that stayed quiet, did what they had to do to get out the hood and married a good man... I knew plenty of those girls and if I had been smarter in my day I would've done things differently and settled down but to say that all chicks in this city were the same and the dating scene only got better once the hipsters/transplants came is ridiculous... You just needed to look for a better class of female...

Btw, that young Puerto Rican girl that moved to Seattle for a potential job interview... Was her last name Osorio? I went back to college and i'm finishing up my degree here at York and I knew of a young girl in a similar position moving out west to become a teacher... PM me if anything.

I didnt surround myself with that, these type of women were attracted to me because they assumed that I was a goodguy/niceguy finish last type of guy lol. I still got mines. Dating scene in NYC never got better it got worse due to entitlement issues of both Locals and Transplants especially those of Gen Y as well as values and media portrayls. I said I would rather spend time with a Transplant chick over a local native chick who are full of drama in which it can raise ones blood pressure to a the tipping point. Its sad that one group is stuck up and the other is highly pretentious but laid back, either way I dont win! Take a field trip to family court and see for yourself on how many women putting dudes up for child support left and right.

BTW I know an East Asian chick who resides near Bville believe it or not, she mostly swing with ghetto dudes and later complained about them but she dived right back in when a black snake came out of the pants in the streets of Bville. I tried to bag her up after a nightclub but she was too hood for my taste. I wonder if its the same Asian girl you are talking about.

As for that Rican girl going to Seattle for an interview. She was with her dad who escorted her from his Brownstone to the 15bx bus stop with belongings, he seemed like a well to do guy who dressed and speaked well and wanted to best for his daughter. She was wearing some college shirt but it was not York. He hugged his daugther goodluck. Most likely she was going to switch with the m60 in Harlem going to LGA. Good people leave hood for good!

Wow that's a lot of hate there. Man you're a true New yorker.

Not really alot of hate... It's all basically directed at one common thing which is a trait too many of them share... arrogance/air of superiority... don't act like that and born and bred New Yorkers won't have a problem...
