I'm trying to figure out the same exact thing! I've been looking at Chicago, because SF is too expensive for me. But I'm also looking into Atlanta, San Diego, Seattle, Charlotte. But I doubt I doubt I'd be able to tolerate them. Might try areas outside NYC like NJ, CT and Rockland County. It's a really hard conundrum!
