A friend of mine applied to a building just like this one newly built, same background however all the people who were paying lower rents were not allowed to go into the build with the amenities. It appears from the listing their will be 4 towers so #3rd,4th towers are probably the ones with the gym, play room and such. I think thats a segregation, So it will be plain as day who's yearly income is 30,000 to those who make $57,000-$122,00. I think they need to keep in mind that the building ALL 4 towers are a part of the program, so even those paying 2,000 rent have been cut down in price to some degree! My friend is a State Court Officer with a yearly salary of 80,000. But compared to those making 150,00 she was chop liver and told she could not use any of the amenities which is unfair at any cost.
Huge development coming up with plenty of affordable housing units available(not listed on hpd.gov website yet). I thought everyone here on this site should know.
44th Street Development LLC is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for 682 affordable housing rental apartments now under construction at 510-550 West 45th Street in the Clinton section of Manhattan. The buildings are being constructed through the Inclusionary Housing Program of the New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) with financing provided by New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA). - quoted from site

I recently moved to an affordable apartment. I have acess to all the amenities at no cost. The only time I pay is if I want to have a private meeting.I can reserve it for four hours for I think 200-400 dollars, and all tenants pay the same no matter of how much rent you pay. Actually, I was surprised because the cost of those ammenities is depending in how many bedrooms your apartment is; for a 2 bedrooms the cost is $950.00+tx. per year. Because I am a low income tenant I don't to pay anything. .
But probably not all buildings under that program operate the same way.
I haven't heard anything from them and I sent like a week or two after they made the application public. But they did extend the deadline to the 20th of November because of the storm.

Reason: misspelled word
How long would you say the process took you from sending out the application to getting the keys to the apartment? To everyone who was able to get into an affordable apartment.
The dead line to apply was December 31st, 2011. I had my interview March 20, 2012. I got my keys September 15. It is a long process.
