Sad to hear that. I just hope a large sewer rat don't get to the small white dog first.

Go immediately to NYC Animal Care and Control in Brooklyn and physically look for the dog. Every single day dogs are brought into the shelter as a "stray". Note that searching the website is not enough, they don't update it enough or even list all the current dogs. Bring any paperwork with you as proof of ownership.

Post on craigslist- a lot of times people will post found animals on there. Also I definitely second the NYCACC shelter. Wouldn't hurt to check the one on 110th too- never know if someone picked the dog up and brought it there instead of the Brooklyn shelter.

And keep in mind the AC&C is a kill shelther so you really want to be viligant in going to it every day and personally looking at the dogs.

Just some clarity!!! It's not my dog its a friend's dog. They are doing everything they need to do such as posting on craigslist, putting up fliers, going to shelters everyday still searching the neighborhood. This is not a post on how to search for a missing dog,its a post regarding seeing the dog or knowing someone who found a dog, that the dog has a home and just isn't a stray dog and for its return. I hate to sound rude but I'm not looking for tips on finding a lost the dog, just if seen the dog.

I'm trying to be helpful and quite honestly you are being rude. If you truly want a response if someone has "seen the dog", you should post a pic. The vague description of "small white dog" is unhelpful. You didn't even list the breed.

Is the dog microchipped? If so, they should contact the company and let them know the dog is missing, they have alert systems in place to help in the search. If the animal is brought into a reputable vet or shelter they will be scanned and they will contact the rightful owners.
