I think both of these are very true. NYC's up there, sure, but THE capital? Nah. I don't think there really is one, anyway.

I have to disagree with capital of architecture. New York City is no Rome or Barcelona in terms of architecture. And capital of fashion? I think Paris or Milan hold that title.

As for this thread. NY is so over-rated, I hardly believe the rest of the world thinks this is the capital of the world.
Only people who live here like to think that.

I'd say there are 4 "world capitals" right now:

New York
London
Paris
Tokyo

When I travel to other parts of the world and people ask where I'm from, I still get looks of awe when I say "New York City". (People seem to respond better to that, than when I say "United States".)

I dont know if Id call you mayor the best. Bloomberg is alright and has done some good things, but I wouldn't call him amazing.

I always feature the fact that I was born in Manhattan. Says I am among the worldly few...

Then again I love to point out that only the pompous and those who can't help themselves actually live there.

Sparta TN, Gary IN and NY,NY. Three places it is better to be from than live there.

I am sure there are a lot of people who believe that NY is the capital of the world...but virtually all live in New York, Queens, Kings, Bronx and Richmond Counties.
