I am starting a new job and will be riding the E-Train northbound from Penn Station up near Central Park. I was just curious if anyone has any experience riding this train during rush hour between 7-8am and how crowded the train is. Thanks!

Thanks Nexis. I've always heard it was packed til 42nd street and then got better from there, but it's good to know that 53rd and lex is the real tipping point.

Considering Penn Station is where tons of commuters from NJ and LI come in, being packed leaving 34 St should not be surprising.

I figured as much, just wasn't sure where the majority of people get off.

E is the only line that touches Penn Station that also goes to the East Side, so a lot of ppl take that.

the train is crowded but the E train is probably one of the best lines in the MTA, you never have to wait long for it, plus its route isnt that long(only 2 boroughs), and it runs express throughout queens.

Its one of the longest trains in the system , and the only line that never surfaces..

Isn't that the F-train route? The E-train runs out along 53rd St.

As already mentioned the E train is very frequent. So even it is crowded and you can't get on the first train that comes, another will arrive pretty soon afterwards.

As mentioned the E stops at Lexington/53rd Street (which has a free transfer to the 6 train on Lexington/51st St.) whereas it is the F train that stops at Lexington/63rd Street.
