Mayor Bloomberg's briefing:

All the East River bridges are open.

Traffic is very heavy and use caution where the traffic lights are not operating.

Tonight East River bridges starting at 6PM including Thursday and Friday all cars must have at least 3 passengers to cross the East River bridges.

Mayor Bloomberg also said that the phone service is not working well and that AT&T & Verizon are working on that.

That guy was an ass, but most of the damage was done because major media sources retweeted his statements as truth or put it in their news updates, which goes to show you how much goes into news stories these days. I understand things were moving quickly that night and information was probably scarce, but the media is responsible for their content. You can't just RT or pick up random tidbits of info on the web and hope that it's correct.

See this I'm not sure about. I just ran miles in and around Astoria Park. Tons of people there.

Well this is what Mayor Bloomberg said in his live briefing that I saw on TV. If I understood correctly it was due to safety concerns in the playgrounds, etc.
