I was talking to a New Yorker the other day and he told me that Dominicans "Run New York." Of course its not the predominate,(I don't think one exists.. or does it?) but he said it was one of the more "influential" cultures in the city. I was always under the impression that if anything it would be Puerto Rican culture.. BUUT being that I'm from ATL I have no idea.. Discuss! lol
Lol, probably right now amongst Latino communities in NYC we are slightly less powerful than PR's looking at overall landscape. PR is still numero uno in influence. The Highest ranked latino politician in these parts is Serrano (U.S representative) and he is Puerto Rican. Sotomayor is Puerto Rican. Espaillat winning maybe would have been a gamechanger...
In any case what that person said is stupid. In the grand scheme Dominicans don't run much of anything. Let's continue to improve before talking sh**...

I think he probably meant Dominican's culture influences within the Hispanic community. It's definitely
not true if he meant NYC overall. Jewish is probably the most influential and powerful group in the city.
