I also don't think the vast majority of minimum wage jobs are making tips that account for much. A dollar here or their for the McDonalds drive thru person, or a buck for the Movie Theater employee to look like a big shot when you're on a date is about as far as I see that going.

San Francisco waiters get paid $10.15 an hour, and New York City's make $3.10.
I imagine SF restaurant owners just have to take in less money, since ironically prices are still very much higher here.

only certain jobs like waiters have a reduced hourly wage . there are a very narrow band of workers who get tips that are on that reduced schedule..

those that do must be brought up at least to min wage if tips fail to do it.

most of the low end jobs are minimum wage and get no hourly reduction. many have tried to stick a tip jar on the counter and claim their employees worked for tips but courts have been ruling against many of them that tried it.

many waiters make amazing money, my buddy pulls in 800-1000 a week as waiter at a few different restaurants.

" The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) provides for the employment of certain individuals at wage rates below the minimum wage. These individuals include student-learners (vocational education students), as well as full-time students employed by retail or service establishments, agriculture, or institutions of higher education. Also included are individuals whose earning or productive capacity is impaired by a physical or mental disability, including those related to age or injury, for the work to be performed.

Employment at less than the minimum wage is designed to prevent the loss of employment opportunities for these individuals."

What good will it do if prices go up to cover the increased pay?
