A crew from Alabama was sent to NY to help but they were told that they would have to pay to join the union as the crews in Alabama and TN are not unionized. A friends daughter who know lives in NY saw them sending them home. As a former New Yorker myself I think they should have accepted the badly needed help.

Here's what I've found on this. I've seen some other similar news reports.

Quote:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s office trumpeted the same idea saying that the incident was caused by "likely confusion about needing the crew at that particular location" and had "nothing to do with being union or non-union workers."

Quote:
Utilities from other right-to-work states have also reported their crews working in New York and New Jersey, including repair crews with Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas assisting in New York State. Florida Power & Light sent more than 860 employees and contractors to assist seven utility companies from Virginia to New Jersey.
Give that there are crews from other states providing assistance in NY and NJ, it's hard for me to believe the OP's report that the crews from Alabama were turned away, when the others weren't.

I first heard about this from Sean Hannity. Sean even referred to this as Obama's Katrina. Is Sean trying to push something??

Is there some reason this is addressed to me? The quote I put in my post was from the same exact news article that you linked in yours. Also I don't know who Sean Hannity is.

^

You must not watch any Fox News? Hannity is a well known host on there. Anyway my response to you was related to you questioning the validity of the Alabama workers being turned away.

That is why it is called Faux News. Faux, of course, is French for false.

Any crisis seems to be a perfect opportunity for union bashing for some folks.

After first hand expierience with the IAW & IAM, I now know what corruption, graft, greed and economic destruction looks like. Dont tell me how organized labor is good for this country, cause its not.
