everyone is renting in Manhattan. I work in real estate advertisements ( got a short term 3 month project) and its crazy how a lot of these sky scrapers are owned by a handful of individuals.

I have met many people in NY and most of them live in small apartments, rent or share.
Some of my friends even make over 100k an year and even they live in not so big apartments

It is crazy how a handful people who own these buildings are raking in millions of dollars

My point is why can't it be more affordable to live in the city or at least be able to get a decent size of apartments for what we have to pay

Because the ultimate goal of capitalism is for one person to own the entire planet and have the other 7 Billion pay him rent.

Hold up a second here.
You work in "real estate advertisements" and YOU are asking this ridiculous question?

What are you like 10 years old or something with these questions???
WHY DO YOU THINK IT'S NOT MORE AFFORDABLE???

Because there are lots of people willing to pay extra to live in a small apartment in (much) of the city. Why rent out at an affordable rent when someone's willing to pay higher?
