I think that when he was mayor, he was still holding on to some cheap rent-controlled apartment. In the Village, I think. Wildly different from Bloomberg, eh?

Sorry, I'm not following you. I'll agree with the bastard part, but Bloomberg is certainly not cheap, having just given $350 million to Johns Hopkins, and as far as I know his townhouse isn't rent-controlled. Plus which, I think Koch lived in Gracie Mansion, which Bloomberg doesn't. Am I missing something here?

Of course it's tax-deductible, and surely you know that Bloomberg gives tons of money to various causes. He's particularly supportive of the arts.

Tax deductible is the bottom line.

Or maybe the ego maniac btard mayor wants buildings or hospital wings named after him after he checks out.

So you're against things like Carnegie Hall, the Frick Museum, and the Morgan Library?

Was Koch still living in the same apartment?

No, he gave up the rent controlled cheapy in 1989 and traded up to a large apartment at the posh 2 Fifth Avenue where he lived since.

I hate Bloomberg also, but you can't deny that giving anywhere near the amount of money he gives is not noble. Tax write off or not, the guy has donated over $1 Billion dollars to charity. That's at worst 1/25th of his total worth. I know I'll never give anywhere near that percentage of my worth in my lifetime. Hell, this is the one thing I won't fault the midget king on.
