If we demolish projects, then we need to build more jails.

And hand them over to Jailcorp, Inc., along with a few BILLION?

Keeping people in housing and OUT of jails is the economically viable choice.

What is it with some of you and "walking through unsafe environments" Do any of you have street smarts?

The local riff raff are rarely..if ever targeting local civilians, and you "whites" are probably the safest walking through the hood. Local gang members and drug dealers do not want the kind of heat that comes from messing with white folk.

"walking through unsafe environments" translates to "walking through a neighborhood where I see poor black people"

Also, tearing down the projects would be somewhere between closing the subway system and tearing down the Empire State building on the list of stupid things that could be done to NYC

Street smarts or not, no sense in risking danger for little to no reward. I've rarely any need to be in "diverse" hoods outside of work so I rightfully ignore them.

What danger, though?

The true numbers aren't what the police department puts out. Contrary to popular belief, we who carry guns legally do not go looking to use them.

They may perhaps need to perceive an insult first. "Hey, you DISSED ME?"
