I second walking around aimlessly.

I've lived here ten years and it's still my favorite thing to do.

Yep and yep!

It's always interesting to walk down a block and "discover" a new store, bar or place to eat. Also, when the weather is warm there are A LOT of things to do like free concerts and shows. On many occasions I've accidentally walked right into street festivals and fairs.

Usually around mid May, publications like Time Out NY and Vanity Fair release a "NYC Summer Guide" and it lists all of the interesting things going on in the city over the summer months. I'm really big on food festivals, concerts and outdoor movies. Here is an example of last year's guide: http://promotions.vf.com/summerguide...Guide-2012.pdf

Go to Cheburechnaya (an Uzbek restaurant) in Rego Park and eat some cow brains and other animal organs.
