Perhaps police in New York do have a history.
I am relatively new here, and we've had no problem with the police. On the contrary they have been helpful and informative and efficient whenever we have transacted with them. I think most of them take their jobs seriously and responsibly.
Years back, when we had jobs in the city, such was not the case at all.
Things have changed and we are grateful for it. I don't think we would have moved into the City if the crime rate and police corruption was as high as it once was. New York feels a lot safer now, and l think the police and their policies have something to do with that.
Things can and do change, sometimes for the better.
I do respect those who criticize the police, but I guess our experiences differ.
I think stop and frisk is beneficial to all our communities. I remember when young children would be shot dead on their way to school. I remember a kid going to school with a gun and his mother saying school was a dangerous place and the kid had to be able to defend himself.
As long as the officer is polite to the person he is frisking and is not trying to trap him with that 'exposing marijuana in public' crime, I have no problem with it.
Sorry, Kefir.
