I do love living here. But now that I'm older and have a traveled more I can imagine other cities where I'd want to live, which I was incapable of doing as a youngster.

Ditto, both the above.

Leaving NYC, you miss desparately all the things you love, and none of the things you hate. The greatest thing is the presence of "quiet" and true "relaxzation". Yet, when you return, all that comes glaring down upon you are the things you hate! Flith, noise, dirt, crowds, disconfort!

I still love NYC, but am no longer 'in love' with her. NYC is like a woman, once grand and sexy, deep and engrossing, evoking a perpetual 'hard on', physically and mentally!

Now, older, a woman of lost luster, shallow and vain, like an actress or model, continually seeking the right light; stiff from always positioning to show her best side.

Those who knew her not, then, think her gorgeous and galmorous still, know her not now.

I love her still, but like an old wife, just not always...not 365, 24/7....

****

It is amazing, the flaws you see, when your (mental) penis isn't inflated!

Jfyi, most of the references above are methaphorical....

many people are packing up and forgetting
about new york, and flipping the bird on their
way out, with no intention of ever coming back.

it all depends on your living arrangement if
you love it or not, because new york does
not love you.

Once upon a time, yes. Now? No. My priorities have changed and I have had the opportunity to travel and see other cities that are a more perfect fit for me.

MR.coltrane.... you are only telling half the truth. NYC is like a forever young woman, still grand and
sexy, deep and engrossing, evoking a perpetual 'hard on, physically and mentally for younger people.
But she is getting too much for the elderly people who don't have the energy to handle her anymore,
even with the help of the magic blue pills.

Now, older, men of lost luster, no longer on top of their games, sitting under the palm trees of Florida,
dreaming about the good old days when they were on top of world, with NYC at their fingertips to enjoy
anyway they can at any time. Oh...... those glory days.

But damn that shallow beach who only had eyes for the young and energetic type. Florida is not as
gorgeous and galmorous as NYC, but she got much warmer personality! It's a little boring, but look at
that nice sunset. Now, where is the damn nurse when you need diaper change!

I think NYC's good cycle has peaked. Born and raised. Every time I am coming back, even if it is after a few days, I still get very excited when the plane flies over neighborhoods that I have so many memories of.
