No, I agree that so many problems in this city are caused by the ignorant few who choose to live like animals, thus lowering the quality of life for everyone around them. It has to do with the ignorancy of the type of people that inhabit the city. Europe doesn't have people cleaning the streets and metros 24/7 yet there cities don't look like landfills.
Save your 'well move to europe' comments that are so predictable.

Today, officials announced the winner of the top category, "Popular Choice," and highlighted the winners of the contest's five individual categories.
I feel this deserves it's own thread but since you asked. Please watch the video. I'm very impressed.
Back in the 50s, there was an early version of this called the Direct-O-Mat at the Times Square Station. I believe it was only a test. It was intended to remove the guesswork from subway travel. All you had to do was press a button and the directions you needed would be printed out on a slip of paper. Though, since the simple sign system of today wouldn't be developed for another 20 years, and fully implemented for another 9, I don't see how much good that would have done.
I agree, Though it would be nice if it could give someone tampering or vandalizing it a jolt of electricity. I know that could never be done though.
I would love that. I'd also love it if the train doors could be fitted with razor-sharp blades whenever someone's holding the doors for their buddy at the vending machine.
