Not sure if the list numbers for HHC are the same, but DCAS is calling the 900's like crazy. My problem is most of the agencies are asking me if I'm willing to move to New York City because unless they have a special need for a certain position, residency requirement is in effect. Only the Law Dept., HHC and the District Attorney's office doesn't require city residency. I'm not about to move from Long Island to NYC after spending over 50 years in Queens. I can actually walk to Queens, and as far as I'm concerned, my residency has nothing to do with how well I do my job.
Since March, I've been interviewed by the Law Dept., HPD, FDNY, twice for HHC; declined DOT, DOS and Dept. of Education. Even though I wrote a letter to keep me on the list, I'm sort of sick of the interviewing process and the rather craptacular positions/salaries they're offering. I refuse to put my present job in jeopardy for all day interviews which has eaten up all my paid time off. Next week I have an interview for a non-civil service position at a prestigious hospital. I hope I ace that one. Money talks and you know what walks!
Well three strikes, I'm done with HHC. Lousy positions and even more lousy pay offered. Last time I was there, I watched people half my age and half my experience get offered positions that would bore me to death. Too old for this nonsense, so good luck to you all, I'm going with private hospitals that value experience and pay properly.

3017 - to be certified in my position. It takes a while though. Hopefully soon.
