Yeah they just had their IPO a few days ago and seem to be doing quite well. They've stated that they plan to open 3 to 5 stores a year.

Since they just opened in Kips Bay, I'm wondering if they're over-extending.

I bet they are going to take out Food Emporiums and the like. While I liked Fairway better years back before they became a diva store and prices kept rising, it has better products and cleaner stores than Food Emporium and Gristedes. I saw a Food emporium on 6th Ave and 11 st going out of business today.

Yep,
I wish they's open one on East 86th Street right next door to the overpriced Fairway.

Yes all the Food Emporium's and Gristedes are closing all over the city. The Food Emporium on the Upper West Side is closing the first week in May.

Which one? The one in the 90's or the 60's?

There is a Food Emporium at 86th and First and one at 84th and Third with the new Fairway smack dab in the middle of them. Both FE's are always empty and overpriced. I don't give either of them a year.
The D'Agostino's at 84th and Lex must also see the handwriting on the wall as well as the Gristede's at 87th and Lex.

All will probably become Duane-Reades...oh joy. then I'll have about 22 of them within walking distance.
