Eh, NYC is very dense. Of course there is going to be huge disparities in such a small geographical area.

the founding fathers never intented to create a nation where everybody got paid the same.
i dont know of any country that actually does this. those that promise to do it, aka communist countries maintain a large prison forced labor slave population or non prison wage slaves paid barely enough to eat while the communist party bosses live like kings. read the article
the entitlement perception is not an accurate perception of the world.

Not everyone should be paid the same, but huge disparities in income create massive social instability. Marie Antoinette sure found that out the hard way.

Part-time at McDonalds. Low paying employers don't hire full-time. They don't want to pay for benefits.

projects.

My stop on 183rd is the poorest out of any elevated stops on the 4. The 170's fare much better for some reason.

Some of it is misleading though I think. I recently moved one stop on a train. My old stop is listed as being in the 70k range, and my new stop (8 blocks away) is barely over 30k. I think that info is probably useful for looking at larger scale disparities than stop to stop disparities. That said the drop off once those trains hit 125 is crazy on pretty much every line.
