Hello Everyone!

Thanks for reading in advance.

I am a little lost. I'm originally from Nanuet NY, but have been living in Ann Arbor, MI for 10 years. After YEARS of trying to get back to NY, Hubs got a great job in Midtown.

We have a 2.5 yr old, and plan to have another. We want a nice 1200 sq ft condo or co-op in a safe area that's 2-3 bedroom and 2 bath, within 40 min public transit to midtown. We are open to living in queens, brooklyn, upstate a bit, but would like to be NY residents. (for college purposes.)

Hubs will make $140,000 annually to start with a $12,000 moving/signing bonus. I am sahm this year, but I am a chef and can make almost as much as him, and plan on working a from summer 2013-2014 to save for our big wedding and a down payment on a bigger place (;

Any suggestions?

PS>.....WE ARE SO FREAKING EXCITED! I can't believe I survived the "four beautiful MI seasons" (cough cough) and the "friendly midwestern people" and the "diversity" and the "great restaurants" for 10 years.... Trust me, DO NOT MOVE TO ANN ARBOR... lol!

Budget? Down payment? I do hope that the $12K isn't the total you have.

If I were you, I would start to look at decent school districts and go from there. Here's an article about top rated public elementary schools in Queens Best Public Schools in Queens | Queens Mamas

Here's another post from the same blog about neighborhoods Best of Queens 2011: Neighborhoods, Activities, Classes and More

If you plan to keep the kids in that same school district for middle school and high school, I think you need to look at different lists as the field narrows.
