The Nation captures the reality of New York far more than the sensationalist liberal NYT. I have to say these articles are spot on about the realities of NYC for the past twelve years under Iron Mike Bloomberg. I read won article about Wall Street in one of those articles on the map. Lets not forget that New Yorkers need to thank Obama and Bush for those bailouts that saved Wall Street, but ruined the lives of millions and millions and millions of Americans but saved a few so New Yorkers from rich to even near poor!

It's hard to wrap your mind around the incredible wealth of many in this city. It's very important that the non 1% pay attention and vote in the next mayoral election. I like Bloomberg's focus on the environment and gun control, but he has always been most concerned with the wealthy.
This is the city for now though, and average and low-income people should do their best to take advantage of programs available through institutions catering to the wealthy. This is particularly true for parents - many private schools and enrichment programs offer scholarships. I know someone who went to Dalton on a full scholarship. It wasn't easy for her - she always felt like she was on the outside looking in (in some respects), but it set her on the path to an ivy league university, also on full scholarship.
I posted this via a samsung galaxy s 3 and not through a computer. So please excuse me for typos, grammatical and punctuation errors. No one is not perfect, what are you, the write proper "English Police"? You sound like an elitest! You should put down your NYT from time to time.
There were a lot of good articles in that issue. I think people are starting to understand en masse how out of hand this has gotten. What's crazy is that those of us "on the outside looking in" in this city are in the numerical majority, by a lot. We have to stand up for ourselves.

As repugnant as it was to see the same Wall Street fat cats who caused the financial crisis get saved with the bailouts--its a bit incorrect to infer that they were the *only* people to benefit.
If the bailouts didn't happen, most of us here would be experiencing what a true economic depression is like.
You seem to have a clear idea about what we should do to eliminate income inequality in NYC but are waiting for the right moment to spring it on us.

I technically didn't say they were not the only ones to benefit, plenty of others down the employment food chain also benefited like janitors and secretaries and such, to even politicians. But I agree, If the bailout did not save wall street, NYC would be a mess.
Wall Street's motto is: "socialise risk, privatise profit".
