Take a roommate in philly, it's a good way to meet people and then you can move out later once you know the area and have a job. Also it is a fairly cheap and quick ride to NYC so you can explore NYC too.

You WILL need a roommate. $500 a month will get you NOTHING in or around NYC or Philly anywhere except the worst, most devastated, crime-ridden, drug filled and depressing neighborhoods-- and probably not even in many of them.

$500 might buy you a cardboard box in NYC.

I dont even think you will find an apartment within that budget in Philly either.

This is the NYC forum not Scranton area of Pa, North Jersey, Connecticut or VA beach area.
It is also not the job forum so I suggest you post on a job forum if those cities if they need drivers.
Or here's an idea, do a bit of research yourself!

200 to 500 a month? in nyc you'll get next to nothing. even in scranton, an old city in northeast pa, the cheapest rent i could find is $425, and I don't think it's in the best of areas. even in newark, nj in north jersey, i couldn't find anything that cheap. i saw online that rentals are much cheaper in phoenix, but you cannot get that cheap in ny metro area. you'll have to raise your budget. rent goes at the cheapest 600 a month. in va beach, the cheapest i could find is $495. have you ever been to the east coast? and you said no roommates. you cannot afford a thing here, sorry.
