I am confused, are you moving to LA, BH, or OC? Laguna is about an hour from Rodeo Drive, not remotely close. Good luck in your new locale, but remember many of the complaints of Southern California are similar to those of NYC, especially the housing expense in decent neighborhoods.

Wow, it's really a shame that you had no idea where to find good restaurants. It's pretty well known that NYC has some of the best food in the world, this is actually hard for me to believe. sorry to hear you couldn't handle The Big Apple, it's not for everyone. And I see you have some very interesting priorities, I mean most of the things you mentioned aren't exclusive to NY

I very rarely say anything good about the city anymore, but I seriously doubt the sanity of anyone who thinks the food here sucks. I've lived in and traveled almost the entire US and haven't found comparable food anywhere.

Yeah what's up with the food complaints? The food is one of the best things in NYC! There's so much variety here. Just found a middle eastern place in the village and had a great schwarma the other day!

But I do feel the op on the cost of living and other things. Doesn't make sense staying somewhere you hate. Hope you're happier in Cali!

Thank God you're leaving. The less cry-baby whiners in this city, the better. The only valid complaint in your list is how expensive the city. Every other point is ridiculous. NYC isn't the cleanest or the most beautiful city in the world, but it has it's own charm and the grittyness of Manhattan is part of it. It's not for everyone, though. Hope you are happier in Cali, just please never come back.
