i was wondering if you could live in the Manhattan with a police officers salary. A police officer's salary is around 40-50,000, when first starting off. i was thinking of area like UES, UWS, LES, Murray Hill or the East Village.

I know 3 NYPD, they all live on Staten Island. I know a bunch of FDNY as well, they all live in Westchester. It's difficult to live in Manhattan on that salary.

5 million in cash locked in some random warehouse in long island city...

Whats stopping law enforcement officials from pocketing money during a drug bust?

And people say the war on drugs is a failure lol

The official salary might be 40 to 50 to start but that's not representative of anything.Pay increases quickly in a few years and you can work as much OT as you can stand.Salaries in excess of 100,000 are the norm and many make substantially more.

You could but it would be difficult. I would recommend a roommate if your going to live in those areas in the city. Makes living there a lot easier.

Top base pay is 76K. Yes you can definitely make OT. But for a regular cop (not sergeant, captain, etc.), this whole "every cop makes well over 100K" is a bit blown out of proportion IMO. You can. But it's not like people claim necessarily at all...

Sounds pretty good considering the educational requirements. What's the waiting list time now? 3 to 5 years?

Lots of kids coming out of college working for large firms making +-10k of that amount and live in Manhattan. But most just rent a room, and hope that they can triple their salary or more in 5 years and leave when they realize that they can't.
