nycha tenant transfers (apartment, living, floors)

i live in king towers nycha and have lived here for 34yrs and have been told that once my son leaves i must down size to a one bedroom apt and go on a waiting list. i have re done the kitchen, floors and bathroom as well as all repairs to my apartment i've done all this at my own expense. my question is can i be wavied from down sizing and do anyone know how many one bedrooms are in this complex and does this list goes by senority.

That was nice of you to redo the apartment so you could enjoy living there better but you do not own it. Just cause you paid for those renovations does not mean you are entitled to live there forever. There are many homeless families in shelters that could have a home. Please don't take a larger apt then you need. Share with others struggling out there and take an apt smaller that will suite you fine.
