I went out this AM and i saw my bldg supers (husband wife and son) moving stuff out of their apartment and loading into a U Haul. I think this is the real thing because a few weeks ago i saw my landlord showing some people what needs to be done ("lawn has to be mowed...")

i am devastated because while i didn't know the supers that well, i felt so comfortable with them, seeing them working early in the AM when i would leave for work, and i just felt very secure with them, especially because i don't have many people to look after me and both parents are gone. not that they "looked after me" but i just felt secure if you know what i mean

theyd been here since 2007, a time period that included the passing of both my parents

i remember back in 2002 in my old place we had gotten a new super. for some reason he didn't care for me and wasn't very accomodating to me when i moved out ("move your stuff out before 5, we got people coming in")

I just hope the new supers will be as cool as these people were

incidentally, i noticed that one of the people the landlord was showing the building to was a Hasidic Jewish person. I don't know if this was the new super but curious, is it common to see Hasidic or Orthodox Jewish supers? I am of the faith myself but I'm not Hasidic or Orthodox

I wouldn't worry too much. Unless your landlord is a slum landlord, they should pick someone who will do a good job.

The first super in my bldg. died of cancer some years ago and the bldg. got a new super. Things have changed but we have the same porter who helped during the period while there was no super for a short time. (While the first super was ill, he had relatives help out so the bldg. still had good service during that time period.)

So I don't see the changing of a bldg. super to be a big issue.
