Thank you both. I did have a look on the street map and it was...disappointing to say the least. I am very confused though since ad said 'Bed Stuy' while the Long Island Train stop is East New York. So it must be between all three neighborhoods, those two and Brownsville? Are the other two areas better than Brownsville?

The apartment was a small 1br for $1100 without utilities. So I guess that is what I am looking for, in Brooklyn somewhere and near a train. I will post another thread as you suggested. Thanks again.

Not sure where you are coming from or what your used to, but chances are that you will not want to live anywhere in either Brownsville or East New York. Bed-Stuy, maybe in some sections, but you need to still be very picky on which block you choose.

Also, you will never be taking this train station to go to Manhattan. You'd be taking either the L, J/Z, or A to get into Manhattan. I take the LIRR out of the ENY train station if I need to go out to Long Island and don't have access to a car. It does not feel safe and has to be the most unsafe feeling commuter rail station (LIRR or Metro-North).

And generally in Bed-Stuy, the closer you get to Broadway Junction, the worse it gets.
