As for Woodhaven, definitely not anymore.

When I grew up in Glendale it seemed like everyone on my block was German. No longer the case.

What's the crack paddy?

I love the irish, good lads all. I work with many of them.

Go to Donovan's Pub on 58th and Broadway in Woodside and ask around.

The Germans are more spread out these days. Besides the Germans don't have a need anymore to come here in large numbers because the German economy is doing quite well.

Woodlawn is a very nice place. It is a bit out of the way and geographically isolated (which is what saved it from the "Bronx is Burning" days of the 1960s/1970s) but has some nice pubs/rest and Irish stores.
Sunnyside in Queens is good too. But as a native Bronxite, I recommend Woodlawn!

Good luck!

Just wondering if you have had any luck with finding an apartment? Myself and 4 friends are in the same boat. Just moved over from Ireland last month. We have a sublet till the end of the month and have gone to view loads of houses from craigslist but same situation with having no credit or american co-signers. We're getting worried as we only have 2 weeks to find somewhere!
