After paying off what debt I have, setting aside an annual amount to go close family and friends in need, I'd take a 3 week vacation one place in the world each year. I'd stay around my neighborhood but join a co-op or condo - Boulevard Gardens I like . I would improve my family's house in Jersey. Buy a 9 foot grand piano, maybe join a little fancier gym. Volunteer for organizations in need, study subjects, and continue to write music. Invest in an apartment abroad - not sure where but abroad.

That's it.

Save as much money as possible let the interest grow while living in a decent apt or owning a nice condo (nothing crazy) and buy a few buildings. I guess depending on what the job was that paid me so much is retired after a few yrs and live off the money saved since not a big spender and manage the property i own.

I'd live modestly in another state and city, socking away the rest for investing. but I'd make regular visits for the good sushi.

I would donate all the money to a organisation that rehabilitates our elderly.

If I made this much a year, I definitely would not spend the entire year living in New York. There is nothing wrong with New York but being able to live in different places around the world would be too tempting. Also, time is more precious than money when you have a lot of money. For those who say they would still take the subway or shop for sales, I would only do that if these are the most time efficient means to my goals. Why would you want to waste time in the subway just to save a few bucks when you can probably be more productive taking a cab, having access to phone and data service so you maintain the business you would probably run to maintain a $5 million dollar salary?

Very very few people have a salary that is stable and indefinite at $5m a year. The instability of that $5m and the time likely required to maintain it makes living elsewhere for more than a few weeks of the year unlikely.
