Hello, my partner and I are looking to relocate from California to the East Coast. We're looking for a city that is very accepting of a gay family and we can happily walk down the street together. We are looking to buy a house, maybe in a suburb or small town, but close to a big city. Thank you!
Particularly gay-friendly suburbs (basically, progressive suburbs with a visible gay presence) would include Montclair, NJ, South Orange, NJ, Hastings on Hudson, NY, Dobbs Ferry, NY, Huntington, NY and Norwalk, CT.
But really almost anywhere in Westchester County, NY, Essex County, NJ, or Bergen County, NJ would meet your rough needs.
All these towns are older suburbs on the commuter rail lines into Manhattan. They're all nice communities.
