I don't mean not in a relationship. I mean both by themselves and no ring on marriage finger.

if a girl likes you she will absolutely give you her attention (taking off headphones)

i think headphones cover many things for women:
1) music! duh
2) no random small talk
3) girls want to see guys work for them

any guy with true "game" will easily get around headphones and girls acting busy

What you're suggesting is just creepy for the most part, IMO. But at least make sure she recognizes that you exist first.

My best results are on the street! I guess I have no creep factor? I get the opposite.

I am shy but this is not an atypical day in Manhattan.

This morning, I saw a girl walking a dog. From a distance, i thought she had a killer figure. Her little dog barked at a great big dog and I said, "Wow your dog has guts". She immediately began chatting with me. Problem was, on closer inspection, I didn't like her so much. Plus English was hard for her. She did most of the talking and I was stuck for like 10 minutes. A guy in a moving truck was amused though.

Lunchtime in a Starbucks a very pretty AA girl said she loved my tie. I could figure out how to convert her though because she was being interviewed by another woman, not her friend and they left together. When they left, I said "I hope it was nothing I said (I hadn't said anything, get it?) and both of them smiled and said "Definitely not".

Later in the same Starbucks a girl who had actually talked to me on two different occasions in the Fall in the same Starbucks, when I was looking for apartments, remembered me. This time I got her number.

Perhaps I am creep proof?

I believe there is someone on the other end but the conversation itself is just blah-blah filler to get them from A to B without Sketchy McCreeper gyrating his hips in front of her.

At the end of the day, either she's interested or she's not, so her wearing headphones or not won't really make a difference if she didn't find you attractive in the first place. When a girl likes you, chances are she won't kill you for taking 5 minutes of her time, it's that simple.
I'm still developing the courage to speak to girls on a consistent basis on the street without earphones. I botch a lot of good opportunities too. Women/girls speak to me too but I dont like them usually. Early on in my move here, i went to bars on my own and was amused (and annoyed) at how rude groups of women were to single men trying to be nice. A woman always came over to me but it was the wrong type (Party girls) and too aggressive.

I move slowly and calmly. Plus I make sure it is a conversation and not just a series of questions leading to a request for her phone number.

I realize that I am starting this and have to accept the woman's reaction gracefully. Plus, I am not some dirtball with nothing going on in his life, I have a lot to lose and have no desire to get snared into a street scene.

Sounds like you're one of the good guys who respects people. I'd talk to you.

It's not a man's "game" that gets around headphones. It's a woman's interest in him that gets around them.

Maybe when they see you coming, they put on their headphones, hence the unusually high number of headphoned chicks you see on the street.

But then again, with a 50% success rate, why would they ignore a Romeo like you?
