Google map could be off. There is also an area on Google map between Morningside Heights and Harlem that has several blocks with a gap between the two borders defining the areas along Morningside drive.

What is the area on the east side between the 90's and 105th St. considered? Upper East Side? East Harlem? Yorkville? Upper Yorkville? This is where I was told to apartment hunt if we matched at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx. I'm confused what to put into Craigslist so I've just been plugging all the names in.

^ my guess is that someone posting it on craigslist would list it as the UES.

Technically, 90th - 96th Street would be Yorkville (assuming you're east of 3rd Avenue), and north of 96th would be East Harlem. But as G-Dale said, most people would probably list it as the UES.

No the poll is wrong. Are you kidding me? How is 60th street uptown? That's miles and miles from real Uptown (Inwood) and more Midtown than anything. Again Uptown is Harlem+Wash Heights+Inwood and maybe Bronx.

Basically, to people living in lower Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and S.I, Uptown is north of 59th cause that's way north of them. For us Uptown folks (Wash Heights, Inwood, Harlem, Bronx), Yonkers etc 59th is way too far down to be considered uptown.

Also visually, once you get below 100th street, east or west, the look and people change, which is more or less uniform from Harlem up. You could see the wealthy in the area, not the poverty you see uptown.

The area just north of 59th street is clearly midtown...you would have to go north of 96th or 110 to be considered uptown. Considering Manhattan goes from less than 1st street through the 200s, how can anyone consider north of 59th street uptown? Silly. Like saying anything south of 59th street is simply "downtown"....makes no sense and equally as silly.

Because the inhabited parts of town just north of 59th are the "Upper East Side" and the "Upper West Side".
